Ameren Missouri is an avoided-cost net-billing market by label, but the netting is MONTHLY at full retail — Ameren nets all your kWh against each other over the billing month, so a battery's intra-month day/night shifting changes nothing at month-end. Say it plainly: the battery does NOT reduce today's Ameren bill (~$0 bill arbitrage). That is not a knock on Ameren — monthly retail netting is genuinely favorable (your solar already offsets your imports at full retail). Only net monthly OVER-production is credited at the low avoided-fuel-cost rate and expires at 12 months, so size to consumption; a battery cannot move excess between months. Sell the real value stack: severe-weather resilience/backup, a hedge against Ameren's documented rate climb (~20% residential 2020–2023 per Consumers Council of Missouri; live docket ER-2026-0291, +$343M / ~10% / ~$13/mo, effective mid-2027), locked-in position for future net-metering changes, and Top Tier's system takeover.
